Inspection launch 'Lady Hatherton' going through a lock at Spon Lane

Black and white photograph showing the inspection launch "Lady Hatherton" entering the Birmingham Canal Navigations via the middle lock at Spon Lane. Taken from the side of the lock showing the front of the boat, there are several people stood in front of the cabin and a man is visible at the stern of the boat. In the foreground thre is a man stood at the side of the lock and in the distance several industrial buildings and chimneys are visible.
