Robert Aickman (b. 1914 d. 1981) was a writer and conservationist who played a fundamental role in the restoration of England's canal system. He was a co-founder of the Inland Waterways Association with fellow writer L.T.C. Rolt, and served as chairman at its founding in 1946.
