Trent and Mersey Canal
BW192/3/2/1/30/95
Loading narrowboats on the Trent and Mersey Canal
Description
Black and white photograph showing narrowboats being loaded sideways with coal. The narrowboats include the Fellows, Morton & Clayton Limited boat 'Otter' and a Potter & Sons Limited boat. There are boat people on the narrowboats and numerous inspectors stood beside the canal.
August 2017 - the coal was likely to have come from the Sideway Colliery, south of Stoke: some of the coal from this site went to Seddons Salt Works near Middlewich.
