Barge 'Martha' entering the Barton Swing Aqueduct
Description
Black and white photograph taken by Cyril Arapoff of the horse drawn wide boat "Martha", "Registered No 3536" entering Barton Swing Aqueduct on the Bridgewater Canal from the south side. Behind the barge, on the north bank is Manchester Ship Canal's hydraulic pump house and accumulator tower to operate both swing bridge and aqueduct machinery.
