Pair of Samuel Barlow narrowboats entering a lock at Berkhamsted
Description
Black and white photograph taken by H C Casserley of a pair of Samuel Barlow Coal Company Limited narrowboats, the motor 'Admiral' and the butty "Rosie Agnes" (name is visible on the back of the boat), entering a lock at Berkhamsted. "Rosie Agnes" is in the foreground of the photograph and 'Admiral' can be seen ahead of it near a set of lock gates in the distance. There is a woman on the back of "Rosie Agnes" holding the tiller and leaning over the side of the boat watching what is happening up ahead. There are 2 people visible on the side of the canal by the lock gates.
