Sir John Knill's narrowboats 'Columba' and 'Uranus' at Brentford Dock on the Grand Union Canal

Black and white photograph taken from the side of the canal looking towards the back ends of the narrowboats, the cabin doors are open on both boats. "John Knill London" and "Columba" are written on the cabin of "Columba" and "Uranus" is written on the back of that narrowboat. The boats are loaded with 53 tons of steel for Tyseley, Birmingham. [Boats docked by Spencer Abbott of Birminghan. Passage time for Brentford to Birmingham was 52 1/2 hours, 126 miles and 156 locks]. [Photograph by Gashion].
