Engine trials on Sir John Knill's 'Columba' at Barlows in Braunston
Black and white photograph of the narrowboat "Columba" newly docked on the Grand Union Canal in Braunston. Taken showing the back end of the boat, "John Knill & Son. Braunston & London." and "Columba" are written on the side of the cabin. Shows engine trials of the new Petter 3 cylinder diesel. There are 3 men in the photograph, Manager Le Cheminant on the left and the others are Petter engineers. One of the engineers is looking at the engine through a door in the side of the cabin. In the background there is a boat moored on the opposite side of the canal.
