Sir John Knill's narrowboat 'Columba' on the Grand Union Canal at Brentford

Description

Black and white photograph taken looking towards the back end of the boat, Jim Jackson can be seen steering. "John Knill London" and "Columba" are written on the side of the cabin, there is a decorated can on top of the cabin and the covering over the hold consists of side cloths only. There is an additional cabin at the front of the boat forward of the engine 'hole' and a Grand Union Canal Carrying Company Limited funnel has been used [a trademark of John Knill's boats with red and yellow bands].
