Black and white photograph showing the Sir John Knill working narrowboats 'Columba' and "Lucy" in the top lock at Braunston on the Grand Union Canal. Taken showing the stern and cabin of 'Columba' and the stern of "Lucy" (the name is written on the back of the boat), on the side of Columba's cabin "John Knill... Braunston London" is visible. Alf Best's family are photographed stood on the back of "Lucy", with Martin and Tom on the canal side.
