Description
Attached at front: newspaper cutting from 'The Times' 18 August 1905 about the sale of the canal to Mr William Carter, pottery manufacturer of Parkstone. Also a newspaper cutting about the sale by auction [28 October 1904]. Bound in the volume at the front is Basingstoke Canal Act 18 George III, Cap. 75, and Act for executing the Basingstoke Canal Act 33 George III, Cap. 16 . Inside front cover in ink "This Book is the Property of Geo Corble Bridge House, Waltham Abbey 1904". Bound at back "[General] Plan of the Basingstoke Canal in the Counties of Hants & Surrey. For sale by Messrs. Farebrother, Ellis & Co. 1904".
