Ice breaking by tugs on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal
Description
Black and white photograph showing numerous tugs on the frozen canal, tugs shown include "Resolute". The description on the photograph reads "Winter 1963. This canal was kept open throughout the entire "freeze-up" at the most urgent request of the Oil Companies. Note: The ice was so solid that as soon as the craft stopped it was quite possible for the crew to get off and walk to the bank."
