Launching of the barge 'Darwen' at Yarwoods boatyard in Northwich in the River Weaver
Description
Black and white photograph of the barge being lowered onto the river, shows the stern of the barge where "Darwen" and "Reg No Liverpool" are written. "Docks & Inland Waterways Executive Reg No Liverpool" is written on the back of the cabin. There are other vessels and industrial buildings in the background. [Built in 1950 by Harland & Wolff of high tensile steel. The other two built were 'Everton' and 'Farnworth'].
