Description

Black and white photograph showing the car suspended from the bridge and travelling across the River Mersey. The description on the photograph reads, "Opened by Sir John T. Brunner, Bart., M.P., May 29, 1905. Length of span from centre of Towers 1000 feet. Height of Towers 190 feet above high water level.. to bottom of Girder 82 feet Girders 18 feet deep, 35 feet apart. Car 55 feet long, 21 feet wide, driven by electricity, crossed in 21 minutes".
