Steam ship 'Pioneer' at Leeds on the Aire and Calder Navigation
Description
Black and white photograph looking across the canal towards the moored ship, there is a crowd of people stood behind the ship. There are industrial buildings and houses in the background, and a Mission Hall [possibly for dock workers and keelmen]. This is 'Pioneer's first trip to Leeds with 130 tonnes of china clay loaded in Cornwall. The boat's master was Captain Eastwood.
