A Muir White photograph collection

Description

Series of black and white photographs largely showing maintenance and repair work on various waterways. There are photographs of numerous boats, including some taken during dredger tests in Holland. Source of the photographs is Archibald Muir White (c.1892-1961). who was engineer to the Birmingham Canal Navigation at least from 1931-1947, and then transferred to the North West Division of the DIWE on nationalisation. He was then Divisional Engineer from 1947 to after 1956 September 2017 - information received is that he parted company with the BCN after the change in regime 1955 and, if so, the photographs mostly date from before or about 1956.
