Canal family with narrowboats at Braunston top lock on the Grand Junction Canal
Description
Black and white photograph taken by T W Millner from the side of the canal, on the canal there are a pair of Edward Powell's narrowboats including one called "Water Lily". Shows the Humphries family including children on the side of the canal, a woman and a child on one of the boats, and Andrew Humphries who is visible with a horse in the background. The small boy in a cap on the photograph is called Arthur Newton. There is a Grand Junction Canal Company ("G.J.C.C. Northampton") maintenance boat opposite the narrowboats. A set of lock gates and a bridge can be seen in the background along with the lock keepers cottage by the canal.
