Grand Union boats 'Hercules' and 'Cetus' with Margaret Cornish at Leighton Buzzard
Black and white photograph taken by Freddie Einengler showing the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company Limited narrowboats 'Hercules' (with number "50", "G.U.12438", "Reg at Brentford. No.540" visible on the cabin) and 'Cetus' on the Grand Union Canal at Leighton Buzzard. Taken from the side of the canal showing the back end of both boats, Margaret Cornish, also known as Margaret Ridout, is on the side of the canal tying up 'Cetus', Helen Skyrne and a woman called Virginia Strauss are on 'Hercules'. Women were on hire from Samuel Barlow. [The women were all trainees].
