BW167/26/35/2/7
Photographic copy of oil painting showing Worcester Locks, River Severn, under construction.
Accompaning label:
"The large lock is 144 feet long by 30 feet wide with an 8 foot lift and the small lock 96 feet long by 29 feet wide also with an 8 foot lift.
The locks were built circa 1845 and it is interesting to note that the bricks were fired on the site. The stocks of clay and coal and the kilns can be seen in the top right hand corner.
The tower on the skyline is Worcester cathedral and the spire is St. Andrews church, Worcester. This church has now been demolished but the spire still stands."
Copy of original painting in the possession of F.G.B. Clayton esq.
