Detailed survey of the waterway, including the location, description and comments on the condition of structures and topographical features, such as aqueducts, bridges, banks, cuttings, culverts, ditches, feeders, fences, hedges and walls, weirs, mining subsidence, locks, pumping stations, sluices and tunnels. Also includes width and depth of channel. Each feature is referenced with an Ordnance Survey sheet number relating to the accompanying plan volume. Includes Leigh Branch, Springs Branch, Walton Summit Branch and Bradford Arm. Covers Engineering Area: Wigan (no. 1) and Engineering Sections: Liverpool, Wigan, Burnley and Skiption.
