Chief Engineer's office correspondence concerning swans on the Kennet & Avon Canal
Correspondence concerns a swan gifted to Wells Cathedral, complaints about swans behaviour, compensation for damage caused by a swan, a request for the supply of a pair of swans and the ownership of swans. Two of the documents are written on the reverse of Great Western Railway/Kennet and Avon Canal Navigation traffic permits nos B5300 and B5344 from Reading Station, January/February 1924. Includes "Memorandum of Meeting Held ... 4 Jan 45" regarding a swing road bridge at Thatcham.
