Metropolitan Vickers Electrical Company was formed on 8 September 1919, from the American owned firm of British Westinghouse, originally formed in 1899. In 1928 the company merged with British Thomson Houston and on 4 January 1929 both these companies were amalgamated into Associated Electrical Industries Limited.
