Shropshire Union Canal (SUC) Wirral Line/ 'Forth'/ carrier.T Clayton/ boatman.Clowes

Description

Albert Clowes is in conversation with Wirral historian Norman Ellison on the deck of ex-horse boat Ohio between Ellesmere Port and Chester. The boats have just passed the empty ex-horse boat Forth, being towed by an unknown motor (possibly Ribble, its usual motor steered by Sam Walters) which is heading towards Ellesmere Port to load fuel oil at the Shell refinery at Stanlow on the Manchester Ship Canal. Note that the boats keep to the left when passing.
