Wartime woman trainee between a pair of narrowboats entering lock
Description
Black and white photograph showing a wartime woman trainee tying ropes between a pair of Grand Union Canal Company Limited narrowboats. The narrowboats are the motor 'Battersea' and the butty "Uttoxeter" (written on the back of the boat). Photograph taken showing the backs of the boats, the woman is on the back of 'Battersea'. Part of the cabin of "Uttoxeter" can be seen with the number "382" written on the side.
