Narrowboats and wartime women trainees on the canal at Hatton Locks
Description
Black and white photograph showing a pair of Grand Union Canal Company Limited narrowboats and 2 women trainees and Eily (Kit) Gayford, trainer, on the canal at Hatton Locks. The narrowboats are the butty "Uttoxeter" (written on the back of the boat) and the motor 'Battersea'. Taken looking at the back end of the boats, one of the women is stood on the back of "Uttoxeter" and the other 2 are on 'Battersea'. A set of open lock gates can be seen ahead the boats.
