Description
Black and white photograph showing Kit Gayford and a trainee attending to a bow fender on a narrowboat at Lock 81 in Batchworth. Shows a close-up of the fore end of the boat, there is an early electric headlight and its pole standard visible. The lock gate is on the left of the photograph, it has a badge with the number "81"on it and below it "1866" is engraved in the side of the canal.
