Samuel Barlow narrowboats at the Hatton lock flight

Description

Black and white photograph taken by Cyril Arapoff showing a pair of horse-drawn narrowboats going up the Hatton lock flight on the Grand Union Canal. The narrowboats shown are Samuel Barlow Coal Company Limited narrowboats "Dragonfly" and "Caronia" which were run by Nellie Freeth and family. A woman can be seen on the back of "Dragonfly" and there is someone on the back of "Caronia". In the distance there is a man working the lock gates and a horse on the towpath to the right of the photograph.
