Scene at Barton on the Bridgewater Canal
Description
Black and white photograph taken by Cyril Arapoff showing horse drawn narrowboats about to enter Barton Swing Aqueduct on the Bridgewater Canal from the south side. On the right can be seen the elevated towpath to lead horses across the aqueduct; so constructed in order to utilise the full tank width for water. Barton Power Station can be seen in the background.
