Comprehensive Engineering Survey Report [for the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal and Grand Union Canal]

Description

Detailed survey of the waterway, including the location, description and comments on the condition of structures and topographical features, such as aqueducts, bridges, banks, cuttings, culverts, ditches, feeders, fences, hedges and walls, weirs, mining subsidence, locks, pumping stations, sluices and tunnels. Also includes width and depth of channel. Each feature is referenced with an Ordnance Survey sheet number relating to the accompanying plan volume. Includes Grand Union Canal from Salford Junction to Minford Lock, and the Grand Union Canal from Bordesley Junction to Salford Junction, Digbeth Junction to Radford Lock and the Saltisford Arm. Covers Engineering Area: Birmingham (no. 5) and Engineering Section: Hatton. Annotations in pencil. Duplicate of BW167/17/2/35 and 40; see those versions for plans.
