Report "Canal Yachting as a Business" by Kyrle W Willans, consulting Mechanical Engineer
Description
Typescript report on the possibilities of hire craft using the canals for leisure. Craft are described as yachts but based on narrowboat design. The report is not formally dated but there is a pencil note on the front page which may indicate 1962. Compliment slip from British Waterways, Leeds was included which may indicate that the report was commissioned by British Waterways
Also included is a magazine article 'Canals are another World' by Eric de Mare which includes image of the author's engine-powered, paddle driven ex-Army pontoon, bought for £12 and converted, moored on the Welsh section of the Shropshire Union Canal
