Description
John Sandbach born whitby, ellesmere Port in 1856. Father was a boatman born in 1836 at Wolverhampton. John worked as a boatman but subsequently worked at the Iron works where he later became foreman. He married Mary Ann Challinor, who was born on a boat and came from a long line of boatpeople from Shropshire.
They lived at Number 2 Porters Row, Ellesmere Port docks with their 6 children.
John became lay preacher at the Seaman's Mission at Primrose Hill.
