"A plan of the proposed canal for extending the Calder & Hebble Navigation from Salterhebble to the town of Halifax or near thereto in the West Riding of the County of York accurately surveyed under the direction of Thomas Bradley Engineer by J. H. Arnott, 1824"
There is a section of the rise from the canal to the summit or wharf which shows the tunnel or drain for the water from the canal to the engine pitt. The line of this tunnel is also shown on the plan of the proposed canal. Stamped "Calder and Hebble Navigation". Pencil annotation stating that this and another plan on a smaller scale were deposited with the Clerk of the Peace by James Edward Norris of Halifax on 20 September 1824.
