Thomas Clayton's motor entering a lock on the Birmingham Canal Navigations
Description
Black and white photograph of the front page of the Birmingham Weekly Post from 18th April 1952. Taken from the side of the canal showing the stern of the motor as it enters the lock on its journey from Oldbury to Nechells Gasworks, there is a man steering the boat. There are industrial buildings and chimneys visible in the background beside the canal. The headline on the page reads "Birmingham is Hardly Venice!".
