Thomas Clayton Limited butty 'Gifford' at Swan Village on the Birmingham Canal Navigations
Description
Black and white photograph looking towards the stern of the narrowboat, Mrs M A Smith is steering the boat. "Gifford" is written on the stern with "Thos. Clayton Limited" and number "60" visible on the cabin. The butty is being towed by a horse which can be seen with a boatman (presumably Captain Ben Smith) in the distance. There are day boats on the canal and industrial buildings beside it.
