Repairs to the wall at Gayton on the Grand Junction Canal

Description

Black and white photograph showing a brick waterway wall being built in the emptied canal at Gayton. There are wooden planks over the canal. [Built after the concrete towpath wall north of bridge 47 started slipping for 200 feet, it was replaced by a brick waterway wall 6 feet 6 inches deep and 3 to 2 1/2 bricks thick with counterferts. Copings from old wall at Northampton].
