"The Canal, Aston"
Description
Black and white photograph showing the wide horse boat 'Agnes' being towed along the Trent and Mersey Canal at Aston, near Stone. Taken from above the canal looking towards the back end of the boat, it is loaded with a cargo of tree branches [possibly fuel for the pottery kilns]. The horse towing the boat is visible on the towpath in the distance. At the bottom of the photograph is written "The Canal, Aston" and "Photo by Dutton, Stone".
