Description
Contains 83 copper plates illustrative of Thomas Telford's professional labours. Includes plates relating to Ellesmere Canal; Birmingham Canal; Liverpool and Birmingham Junction; Caledonian Canal; and those canals connecting Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. Pages are embossed "Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company Engineer's Office Birmingham". Majority of plates drawn by G Turnbull and engraved by E Turrell. Also contributions by R H Palmer, T Bradley, W A Beaver and E J Havell.
